Pedagogical Reflection Response
Artifact #1Course- ECD-160
Reflection: This artifact demonstrates pedagogical knowledge by analyzing Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory. The theory can help teachers pinpoint how to tailor a lesson in different ways to meet every students’ needs. In this artifact, I wrote about how every student is unique and has different strengths and weaknesses. Every strength should be celebrating and used to a student’s advantage. This relates to pedagogical knowledge because it discusses how students learn, what makes students learn differently, and how to use multiple intelligences for an educator’s best interest. I believe Howard Garner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory is something every teacher should be familiar with. It promotes differentiated instruction within the classroom and gives every student, no matter their learning styles, a chance to be successful in the classroom. |
Artifact #2Course-IDC-201
Reflection: This artifact is a reflection based upon a documentary that had a lot of wonderful pedagogical examples. Throughout the entire documentary, some educators are mentoring young men and women to help them achieve their goals. It’s a completely immersive educational experience at the school mentioned in the documentary, High Tech High. Their insistence that students figure things out on their own or in groups rather than the teacher giving away answers is refreshing. Watching that reflection opened my mind to different ways of teaching or teaching to the future. New ideas are a great thing and not something to be afraid of. Another thing that I learned from this artifact is that mutual respect between a teacher and a student provides a safe learning environment. Last and most importantly, things in the classroom must be meaningful. We shouldn’t hand out worksheets just to do them, they should mean something to the child’s development and education. |
